OH, Tintin.
You’re looking rather dapper.

OH, Tintin

You’re looking rather dapper.

Just casually catching wild tigers with your bare hands. Just ‘cause. No big deal.
Sassy Tintin is sassy. My word.

No big deal.

Sassy Tintin is sassy. My word.

“Free! … I’m free!…”
Oh wait. Nope.

“Free! … I’m free!…”

Oh wait. Nope.

You tell him, Tintin. You tell him.

You tell him, Tintin. You tell him.

Shirtless Tintin is shirtless.

I approve.

I approve.

Tintin, you know I love you…

keitheaverage:

But seriously who names their kid Tintin? Sounds more like something to name a dog…

Well, I mean, you are loyal, friendly, and adorable—

But that’s not the point.

(Is there someone who is Tintin-savvy that can explain this to me, if they can?)

He’s a reporter! It’s quite possible that he’s using a pseudonym to hide his identity. During the time his adventures were set, journalists and reporters often used a pseudonym, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he used one too.
There’s a hint of this in the book Cigars of the Pharaoh when Tintin is asked about his name and he replies with: “My name? It won’t mean a thing to you… but at home they call me Tintin.”

Overall, I think Herge meant for his name to be a mystery.
